KY-Sen: Bunning Is a Ghoul

Vile:

U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning predicted over the weekend that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg would likely be dead from pancreatic cancer within nine months.

During a wide-ranging 30-minute speech on Saturday at the Hardin County Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner, Bunning said he supports conservative judges “and that’s going to be in place very shortly because Ruth Bader Ginsburg … has cancer.”

“Bad cancer. The kind that you don’t get better from,” he told a crowd of about 100 at the old State Theater.

It’s pretty easy to see why national Republicans want nothing to do with this mess of a man.

  1. has he been napping during the past 5 months?  Does he still think we’re in the Bush administration?  Obama will never appoint a “conservative judge,” no matter how hard the old slugger supports them.

  2. More from the article

Bunning also reiterated that he would run for re-election in 2010. But he said he doesn’t have the ability to raise money like U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who spent more than $20 million in last year’s election….

He also made a veiled attack on National Republican Senatorial Committee chairman John Cornyn of Texas, criticizing him for not using Senatorial committee funds to help him and conservative Sens. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and David Vitter of Louisiana.

Does he really think Jim DeMint and Tom Coburn need funds?  Has he considered that they are not getting funds because they don’t need them?  No, their must be a massive conspiracy by John Cornyn and Mitch McConnel to get rid of all conservative senators and turn the Republican Caucus into a bunch of socialist liberals, right?

  3. I’m thinking we need a recall effort for Bunning.  No, not for Senate, for MLB Hall of Fame.  The guy never deserved to make it in the first place and needs to be excluded for being a disgusting human being.

  4. I read this story on TPM, and thought, since there was some other detail in the piece about how he has only 150k CoH, it might get attention on SSP and that I would come here and find the best possible title.

    And I was right.

“Ghoul.” That’s it, that’s the perfect descriptor for someone who would say such things.

  5. on how long it is before Bunning drops out, saying he “wants to spend more time with his family”, when in reality every single prominent Kentucky Republican is lining up against him.

  6. to want to capitalize on a liberal judge’s pancreatic cancer.  I want Bunning to be defeated in 2010 more than any other Senator.  His comments have been reckless over the years, and I don’t know if you can really pinpoint it to senility.  I think its his personality to make mean-spirited comments.

At one time Bunning was a minor league manager in the Phillies organization during the 1970’s.  He was well known for demoralizing his younger players to a point where they lost all of their confidence.  He once tried to suspend Jay Johnstone for being sick during a ballgame.  He’s self-centered, unwilling to change.

Even if the Democrats don’t win this seat (nothing is for certain), I want him defeated.

  7. I took a look at his background and Bunning has no degree or special expertise of any sort in medicine.  Weird considering he seems to have such a thorough knowledge of cancer.

  8. He said he’s sorry “if he offended her” — and spelled her name wrong in the initial press release.  What a stool sample of a human being.
